Weaving Nature by Lily Coleman
Weaving Nature explores life as an intricate web stretching from the microscopic to the cosmic, grounded in the natural environment and guided by Aboriginal spirituality and ancestral connection to Country. Nervous systems mirror the underground networks of fungi, each responding, adapting, and enduring. The work centres on resilience — the shift in a bird’s call, the tensile knot of a spider’s web — revealing nature’s ongoing negotiation for balance and persistence across generations.

Composed like a musical score, the exhibition follows a crescendo and decrescendo of life. Early works rise through ancestry, movement, and awakening, building energy and identity like ascending notes. Midway, the rhythm deepens into harmony, wisdom, and self‑recognition, echoing the layered complexity of Country and the teachings carried through generations. As the sequence softens, the works turn toward reflection, release, and quiet transformation. The cycle resolves in renewal — a symbolic return to beginnings, where learning, identity, and acceptance converge.

Together, these works form a living composition: a continuous loop of becoming, where nature, memory, and the human experience weave into an ever‑evolving score.
